Simon's First Christmas

We had an amazing first Christmas with our little angel. Of course he didn't really know what was going on and was more excited to play with the wrapping paper (actually eating it) than his presents. Next year will be really amazing since he will have a better idea of what is happening.

The cousins playing nicely together.......

.......just a few seconds later

It was an amazing holiday. We feel so blessed to have loving family and friends. And of course we had the best gift of all.....baby Simon!

A boy and his cat

From the minute he came home, Simon and Zoe were fast friends. In the early days, he had no idea she was around. She loved to walk up and sniff him or lay on top of me while I held Simon. She would even stand guard of his stuff (see her under the swing and in his pack and play).
As Simon got older and started to notice her he would get more and more excited. These days he squeals with delight when he sees her. I can actually tell when he is looking at her even if my back is to him because his voice has a different high pitch sound when she is around.
They are so cute together and it should be fun to see what happens once Simon starts crawling after her.

Winter Baby

Gearing up for a walk in the neighborhood......or he might have been asleep at this point already (the shades make it hard to tell)

Simon is 6 Months Old!

Dear Simon,
Happy half birthday! This month was very exciting for you.

Popo came to visit from Aspen. We had a really nice walk around the neighborhood and you played so cute with him. When he comes back to visit in a few months, I bet you'll be crawling.

You went on your first plane ride this month too. We flew to Ft Myers and then drove to Sanibel Island. You were such a good boy on the plane. All you wanted to do was look around and smile at people. When we walked up the isle you cooed at everyone and made lots of friends.

You loved swimming in the pool! Especially when there were other kids around to watch. You love watching kids and smiling at them
.

When we went to the beach there were a lot of birds around. You could not decide what you liked more, watching the waves come in or seeing the birds fly around.

While we were on our trip you started sticking out your tongue all the time. Your still doing it now that we are home and it is adorable!

And of course after all of that swimming and playing you needed your rest

As each day goes by you get cuter and cuter. This month you started to look more like a little boy than a baby. It makes us so happy to see the little character you are turning into.

I love you more everyday and feel so lucky to have such a wonderful baby like you!

Love Always,
Mommy

Happy Thanksgiving!

Simon loved his first Thanksgiving. He was a fantastic sous chef and even helped with the baking. He didn't get to eat any turkey, but loved his rice cereal and even fed himself. He can't wait for turkey next year.

Simon's Dad made him a pilgrim hat to help him get in the spirit of the holiday. Too cute!

Simon and his Dad were quite the fashionistas in their matching argyle sweaters. Love it!

Our lives have certainly changed since Thanksgiving last year. It was very fun to go around the table and talk about what we were thankful for this year. The funniest part was when Nonna asked Dennie what he was thankful for. Without skipping a beat he said, "More Cookies". It was hilarious!
We are so thankful to have our little man in our lives this year. He truly is a blessing and we are loving every minute with him. We can't wait to see how much he has changed at Thanksgiving next year!

Simon is 5 Months old!

Dear Simon,

I know I say it every month, but time is truly flying! It has flown so much that you are already 5 1/2 months as I write this post.
Your personality is so cute and funny. You love to imitate people around you whether we are making noises or faces. Every time your Daddy raises his eyebrows you laugh hysterically. You also went through a phase this month where you laughed hysterically at Nonna's dog Casey. You still think he is very cool, but not quite as funny.

You went swimming for the first time this month! We spent a weekend with your Aunties (we missed you Gabrielle!) and cousins and Nonna in the Wisconsin Dells for your big cousin Will's birthday. We had a great time. The water park was a little noisy for you with all of the echo, but I know you are going to be a water baby.

You continue to love your rice cereal. While you are eating you really love to hold the spoon yourself. I think you wish you could eat grown up food with us.
You also went with Mommy to the voting booth. We are trying to teach you to perform your civic duties early. You were a real hit with the election volunteers too.

Fall has been flying by and we are looking forward to seeing you enjoying the holidays. Halloween was a big hit and it really helps you to see your big cousins as they show you the ropes.
You are truly the light of our lives. We love you more everyday and can't believe how lucky we are to have you.
Love Always,
Mommy

Happy Halloween!

Simon has loved his first Halloween! Our neighborhood stores celebrated one day early so we went Trick or Treating today in Lincoln Square with two of his cousins. These pictures, cute as they are, don't even begin to capture the cuteness in these boys!!!!! Looks like I have finally been able to post a video (last two)! P.S. Simon is on the left and Jackson is on the right.

Chowing down

Last Wednesday the 13th, Simon started eating rice cereal and he is loving it.
The first few pictures are the very first bites he took. As you can see, he wasn't so sure about this stuff.

Getting better aleady

Now it is a few days later and you can see the difference.....he loves it!

But, sometimes he still just wants to eat his bib
