Halloween Part II

On Halloween, Nonna and I took the boys on an early flight to Denver to visit the Erblands.  When we got to the Denver airport, we started to notice people dressed like Zombies.  Simon loved it!  He started chasing them and play fighting them and they all played along.  It turned out to be a flash mob of Michael Jackson's Thriller.  It was awesome!  I loved that video growing up and still remember watching it from our VHS tape.  Our Dad picked out zombies from the video that were supposed to be us and I can still tell you who was who to this day.  The dance at the airport was such an excellent surprise and a great way to kick off a fun weekend.

That afternoon the boys put on their second costumes and we went trick-or-treating with Dennie and Jackson.  Our little ninjas were so adorable (and fierce of course!)

And our little pumpkin

It was a super fun day and we are so glad our boys got to be with their "cuzzies" on such a fun holiday!

Dylan is 5 months old!

Dear Dylan
October was a busy month for us and as usual you took it in stride.  You really are just happy to be around us.  I say it all the time, but you really are the smiliest baby I have ever seen.  It is so easy to get a good picture of you because the minute I look at you, you get a huge smile on your face that truly lights up a room.  For the record, this is not just a proud mother's opinion.  Everyone you meet and even strangers comment on how happy and smiley you are.
You are eating more food this month and loving it.  I think you can't wait to try new things.  You still sleep through the night and wake up thrilled to start the day.  While you are playing with toys more, Simon is still your preferred method of entertainment.  When you see something you like or want to do, your whole body propels forward and you shake your arms and legs like you are just going to dive out of our arms into whatever it is you want to do.  You are growing up too fast for me, but I can tell it is not fast enough for you.  You are ready to be a big boy!
We love your sweet face and smile so much.  But, please.....slow down!  You have an exciting life ahead of you, but I will miss this baby phase.  So, do your Mom a favor and do not be in such a rush to be a big boy!
We love you with all of our hearts.
Love Always,
Mommy

Dylan's First Visit to The Museum of Science and Industry

We sent to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the new Disney exhibit.  It was a little bit too old for Simon, but the grown ups thought it was very interesting.  He did a workshop in the animation studio where they taught him how to draw the iconic Mickey face.  We had a great time.  It was also Dylan's first time at the museum and he liked to see the giant train exhibit.  I see many more visits in our future.

Halloween Part 1

We were lucky enough to celebrate Halloween twice this year!  Once in Chicago and once in Colorado.  For the Chicago celebration the boys dressed as dinosaurs.  We went to the North Center/Lincoln Square trick-or-treating.  After every single store, Simon would ask "Mom, can we go to another store please?"

It was a fun day and the boys' costumes were a hit!

Fall Fun

These boys love playing in the leaves.  Dylan really likes rolling around and hearing the crunching sound and Simon loves to jump in leaf piles.  They are quite the pair!

Swinging

Dylan loves to swing at the park.  You can tell he just wants to play like the big kids, but for now he will settle for the swing.

Dylan's First Visit to The Field Museum

The Field Museum is one of Simon's favorite places to visit.  He loves the dinosaur bones the most and was excited to show them to his brother.  Simon especially loves "Sue" the giant Tyrannosauras Rex. When cousin Will was a little boy, Nonna took him for "Dozin' with the dinos" at the museum where you sleep over.  I can not wait until the boys are old enough to do that.  I know they will love it.

Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

We went to Bengston's Farm with our great friends the Oppenheimers.  It was a wonderful day, albeit a little bit crowded.  Simon and Matthew absolutely adore each other and could not wait to go on rides and in the haunted house.  They are both very into being scared and all things Halloween.  Dylan did get to go on the hay ride and i'm sure he'll enjoy more rides next year.

Master Baker

Simon is having a lot of fun baking with Mommy these days.  He is very careful and patient while measuring the ingredients and LOVES to mix.  He loves to mix by hand and he really loves the electric mixer too.

He has become a big helper in many ways in the kitchen.  Nonna bought him a step stool and he is always quick to help with dishes and cooking.  One day he was cooking with Daddy and they were cutting onions.  Poor Simon is still talking about how the onions made him cry.  We are still holding out hope that all of his new cooking skills will help him become a more adventurous eater, but not counting on it.
