Dylan is 8 months old and crawling!

Dear Dylan,

You made it!  After several frustrating weeks of wanting to move you can finally do it!  It is still slow at this point, but before we know if you'll be flying all over the place.  You still love the walker, but you are so fast we all have to keep our toes covered because you run them over and it can really hurt!
You also love to have us hold your hands while you "walk around".  If you hadn't just started crawling, I would have guessed you might skip it all together and just start walking.

You love music and musical instruments too.  I love to watch you smile and coo while you make noise!
You are eating up a storm too!  Lots of cereal and vegetables (even celery!) and baby crackers are a favorite.
As I always say, the time is going by too quickly, but we are sure to enjoy every moment with you, little man.
We love you more every day!

Dylan has a playdate of his own

Dylan was happy to play with Nora who is a little closer to his age than most of the kids he gets to play with. Nora loved playing with Dylan by taking his pacifier and putting it back in his mouth.  He thought it was hilarious!

Some of Simon's favorite things

Simon loves to dance.  He is a really wiggler and is always on beat.  No matter where we are, if he hears a song he likes he starts to dance.
He loves to play hide and go seek.  This is an almost nightly occurrence in our house.  The best part is, he does not understand that you do not want to be found in this game.  So, he will go hide somewhere and instead of hiding quietly he will say "I'm over here!" but still squeal with delight when you find him.
He is interested in all things having to do with robots.  Some of his favorite toys are Rescue Bots and Switch and Go Dinos which are cars that transform into robots and dinosaurs respectively.
He also loves to build and could spend hours building legos and making things out of play doh.
Simon makes friends everywhere we go.  Every time we go to the park, he sees kids and shouts "My friends are here!"  And sure enough, he always makes friends with whichever kids he finds.  He is incredibly outgoing and plays very well with other kids.
He is really a character who loves life and loves to laugh.  We are so grateful to have such a sweet and spunky little boy.

Playing at Pickles

We love to go to Pickle's Playroom in Lincoln Square to play.  Simon has been going since he was little.  Dylan has been a few times, but this was the first time since he has been sitting up so he actually got to play!  He loved it!  From watching the other kids to playing with new toys, it was a real hit!

Standing already?

Dylan used his activity block to pull himself to standing!  It seems a bit early and may have been a fluke, but we shall see......we might have a walker before we know it!

Walking with the Dinosaurs

We went with the Oppenheimer's to Walking with the Dinosaurs.  Dylan stayed home and he missed out!  Simon absolutely loved it.  It is a collection of animatronic Dinosaur models.  Matthew and Simon were hilarious running around the place and roaring at the Dinosaurs.  It was a blast and we can't wait to go next year with Dylan.

There was a very cool area where we got to go mining for fossils too!

More Sledding!

Simon was so lucky to have Nonna take him sledding out on our street!  Our boys are so lucky to have such a fun, energetic and loving Nonna.  Every boy should be so lucky to have a Grandma who will drag their sled up and down the street a million times.  If we have enough snow next year, Dylan will love to go too!  We love you Nonna!

Growing Up

Dylan is officially done with the baby bath and into the big boy bath tub.  He loves it so much!  It is really amazing how much water ends up outside the tub when our little peanut is in the bath.  He would spend all day in the bath if we let him.

We went to a resort in Wisconsin for the weekend to go sledding!  It was nice to be away for a little bit.  Simon loved going sledding while Daddy was terrified!  He worried the whole time about Simon getting hurt, but of course he was fine.  Our little man could have gone up and down that hill all day long.

There was also a pool with some fun activities for kids.  The boys loved splashing around!

Following in Grandpa's Footsteps

These boys love their tools and the new tool bench that Simon got for Christmas.  Simon always tells us about all of the things that Grandpa Joe is going to fix around the house when he visits.  In the meantime, these two little guys are doing their best to fill in.
